We stayed at the Golden Crown for 18 days. We chose this hotel as a base to explore the sights around Kandy. The hotel is a 30 minutes walk from the center of Kandy and Kandy Lake. The view from the room is very pretty, with hills covered by lush topical vegetation. The hotel is spacious and comfortable with an infinity pool and a well-equipped gym. The restaurant is spacious and beautiful, and it provides with a buffet breakfast as well as a buffet dinner. Food is great and varied, with a wide a selection of Sri Lankan, Indian and international food. In view of the length of our stay, we benefitted from an upgrade to a bigger room. The room was spacious and comfortable with a balcony The cleaning team was very good, and the best we have experienced in our stays in different hotels in South East Asia. Our stay at the Golden Crowne would not have been the same without Tharanga, from the hotel management, who was professional, attentive, and helpful. My wife was sick and he provided support and invaluable help, scheduling a visit to a local hospital to see a doctor and providing for a driver to take us there. He also advised and helped in organizing our visits to the most interesting sights around Kandy. Since we stayed in The Goden Crown hotel for so long, Elsworth, the General Manager, organised a beautiful and delicious farewell dinner for us on the hotel rooftop, where Ravi attended to our service. We highly recommend this hotel where we felt at home and well taken care of.

The manager came ask at breakfast several times how our stay is, if there was anything they could do for us, he invited us to have ‘high tea’ (free of charge), gave us a little snack box when we left. Extraordinary! Housekeeping was done by Thusitha, a very kind and professional man. The room was perfectly clean every day and he left little surprises such as flowers on the bed or the towels in the shape of elephants. Kaveesha and the rest of the front office and guest relations team were also exceptional and any small issue we had was handled immediately.

He made the most amazing animals out of our towels and it was a real highlight of our stay. Another shout out to Wjekoon from the restaurant - he makes fantastic coffee and as Australian's, we like our flat whites. Nothing was ever too much trouble and on our last day the staff had made up a romantic table for us right next to the pool. We will definitely be back and would prefer to never stay anywhere else.

After driving through Columbo to get here, the Golden Crown was a welcome sigh of relief and great comfort. It's nearby Kandy Lake, which is nice. The pool is nice, an infinity pool with a view of nearby mountains and villages. The room was spacious, a comfy bed with great linens. They did little things like place plumeria flowers on the bed and placed water bottles at bedside before we turned in. The buffet was pretty good. The spa was wonderful. We had a great and relaxing time there. They even gave us a parting gift. Very thoughtful touches.
